Ethnocentrism involves
judging the world based on what we think.
Just because
something looks one way from a distance
doesn’t mean everybody else sees it similarly.
You might think I’m ‘stuck up’,
but have you spoken to me in person?
You might think I have no ‘pep in my step’
just because I’m not boisterous or steadily cursin’.
But who cares what you think
if you haven’t taken the time to get to know me!
Such ignorance is not my problem.
It just illustrates the small-mindedness of some.
All Muslims are not terrorists.
All Catholic priests are not pedophiles.
Jehovah’s Witnesses do believe in Jesus.
They just don’t put emphasis on when he was a child.
Have you conversed with any of these people?
Have you really examined what they believe?
Or do you sit back and criticize
and simply cast them off as ones who are deceived?
You would want someone to get to know you!
You would want people to get their facts straight.
Otherwise, they should keep your name
out of their mouths.
Is this not the very truth of the matter?
We have two ears but one mouth for a reason
Therefore, let’s make it a point
to know what we’re talking about
before we speak on matter
as if we have so much authority.
The same thing applies when on the internet,
because once we press that “send” button
our thoughts are out there
and we can’t get them back
no matter how apologetic we are
or how many times we try to justify it!
God is the only One
who can accurately judge anybody and everybody.
