Martyr

it came so fast
I could barely see
just what I
have come to be
from what I was
too sympathetic
to what I am
still apathetic
the world around changes
as I remain the same
and wonder what the rules are
as we play this deadly game
we start without remorse
but we all end in regret
and look back on the score
and try not to forget
why we play at all
and why we hate to lose
and why we place our heads
into an ever tightening noose
and look look apon a world
who dares to cast the stone
apon he who is surrounded
but in the end alone
because he has sinned against
those he cannot beat
he cannot stand to lose this game
so he decides to cheat
but he cannot win
imperfections rule his life
so he chooses to give it up
and end it with the knife
and here I stand
before you all
I chose to slip
I chose to fall
into the pit
of my demand
and watch as this world
starts to disband
I look to you
as you are my father
and ask "how do you feel?"
your son is now a martyr

Wow.. Ben this is a powerful message of these confused times.. Excellent write that mirrors my own feelings in many ways..
As you are my father..
and ask..
How do you feel?
Your son is now a martyr.
Excellent.
