A memory
shrouded in time
endless thought
a thoughtless mime
of things before
further apart
drawing far
till death of time
at peace we are
lay awake
pitch black around
empty sky
empty ground
I see my life
flash in my eyes
all the truth
all the lies
sleep ascends
into eternity's reach
waiting for he
who dares to preach
the words or truth
in a world or lies
No one hears
but still he tries
alone and here
wrong and true
I fell asleep
that's what I knew
but now I'm trapped
away from light
and stripped of all
my endless might
I fight not
I do not fear
what I've become
nothing near
so familiar
but always new
touching flesh
but moving through
a burning field
a troubled youth
a latex dream
an unlayed truth
of what I see
in each of you
illusional dreams
of what is true
a body grabs
a tortured soul
completing what
was never whole
and drags it down
to where I lay
ever more
now we play
switch of lights
that control life in all
spiral down again
one more fall
this body
is not alive
eternally damned
existence revived
to serve a life
a captured heart
and reverting back to
a horrifying start
it starts at end
and ends in fear
but I see now
you were never near

It seems we can miss so much, what was never there in the first place. Hope can be a bitter prism to look through.
Nicely written, Ben.
