So what?
The dam is busting
And Iím gonna drown
Gonna drown in the flood
In the flood of tears

In the torrent
In the deluge
In the river rushing
No way to stop it

Go away
You donít want to hear this

Your hand on my shoulder
A pin to a balloon
Iím gonna pop, yeah
Any moment now
Explosion BOOM
And this room
And everything in it
Will be splashed
Dripping with human shrapnel

See Iím spinning out
Like a bald tire
Spinning out of control
Out of money
Out of work
Out of love and into
A head-on collision
Major explosion
As I meet myself
On the other side

Go away,
You donít want to feel this

Sure, Iím soft and human
On the outside
Where you see me
But Iím hard as crystal
And hospital sterile
On the inside
Where it hurts

I tell you
I am a clock
Ticktickticking down to zero
Iím gonna blow and when I go
Itís gonna get all over you
Itís gonna go down deep
Slivers stuck beneath the skin
Bamboo under your nails
And a scream
That will echo round and round
Your sweet, caring, stupid skull
ĎTill you open your mouth and howl
ĎTill you open your mouth and scream
And scream
My scream
With my hand on your shoulder
And my voice whispering
Everything, everything, everythingís gonna be okay

I agree that this would be a good slam poem. It has a definite edge to it.

But did you explode? Did the clock get to zero? Or was the scream just inside you; not part of the existent world?

Hi- Susannah- Your foto caught my eye- an interesting looking person. I like the way you express yourself in your bio. I'm an old journalism major myself. Your poem here is very powerful. I enjoyed it. Read my Out, Long Gone Love, Willow, Journey and Old Souls and let me have some real feedback, like I know you can. I'll do three more at least of yours, for an even swap. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks- Jerry
