Afghan

I've always loved shawls and afghans.
I draped one of my favorite shawls around my Mom when she passed because I wanted to always be close by.
Helen gave me one long ago that was a loan, I intended to drape it around her but we didn't have time to come fetch it. My siblings, instead, gave me an afghan Helen made--the one she kept for herself. It is draped over the sofa where I sit every night--so she is always 'there' to comfort me.

Twisted and tangled
Knotted, tied, dangled
Cherish your warm embrace
Patterned by Queen Anne’s Lace
Knitted of life
Afghan
In various hues
All sorts of cool blues
Did you see a stitch drop?
We’ve been stretched ‘til we flop
Shorn by a knife
Afghan
Folded in storage
Gardens in foliage
Only the old or new
Still cling to you so true
Have use for you
Afghan

Thanks for posting this one, Sandra. Really enjoyed this. I still cherish an afghan my grandmother made for me 50 years ago. It's still my favorite treasure.
