An original poem.

expectations of the ancient holy
are never going to be fully mine
even if there is an undoubted sign
things can never be in the past solely

the future brings a new, disquieting light
as if it were some great uncharted star
coming forth to be here, no longer far
shining truth and wisdom, intense and bright

it gives to us of all unbridled love
exposing all the undertones of malice
whose heart-hardening force kept us at odds
from those impulses coming from above
whose force of goodness overflows the chalice
and makes us know that all we are, is God's
