I am a fraud and a thief.
I spring from the wishes
Of whomsoever I deceive.
My beauty is not my own,
Though I possess it in abundance.
My path is crowded and overgrown
With fat beasts, wilted flowers and weeds,
Stretching out for miles around,
Peppered with crippled and dormant seeds.
With faith, I can believe
That I can touch the sun.
The sky is as limitless as I can conceive.
But, when I sleep, my dreams unfold
In a burst of brilliant color and ugly spite…
A curse that I will grow ugly and old…
Petty, wicked and sad...
That I will lose my sight…
That it will drive me mad.
And I cling to a single thought:
That my madness will subside
And beauty itself will rot.

I enjoyed this piece.
Why?, Because it rings honest.
Honesty is what makes the words walk,
And command a salute
Well done

Very well written, Nickolas. The emotions are there all right. I wrote a poem on the subject of beauty called, "Her Face."
Best regards,

Beauty is only skin deep, the real beauty lies within the heart. Focus your dreams on the inside instead of the outter layers. I felt the emotions in this. Lisa
