Handed down clothes & small boat rides
seemed unfair when they had better.
No snowpants & frozen feet
seemed unfair when they wore better.

No long drives or airplane rides
seemed unfair when they saw better.
Feeling left out of the cool fun times
seemed unfair when they did better.

I felt angry for little I had.
Though little I had made me strong.
Determined & angered by little I had
made me trudge much higher, striving for better.

I'm glad for the lack of things in my life
for I learned about life & how it's rough.
That never measures the person you are.
If determined in life you'll strive to go far.

I felt angry for little I had
Though little I had made me strong.
Determined & angered by little I had
made me trudge, striving for better.

For if ever I am surrounded by wealth in life.
I'll teach my family there's no silver platter.
For one must work for what they have.
This I believe, by far ,is better.

Never feel sad for the little you have.
The little you have can make you strong.
Keep digging your hands deep into the dirt
for the little you have by far is better.
