The sky is clear and quiet
No birds fly past our eye
The heart sounds have grown silent
As we breathe a collective sigh

Shocked faces stare in disbelief
The anguished cry in pain
Anger boils the heart beneath
For those who died in vain

Others share in our great loss
When shaken to our core
Losses great and small we see
Reach far beyond our shore

But like the Phoenix we will rise
From ashes and from dust
We will not stop until we’ve won
For all things free and just

We will not run and hide behind
The dunes like cowards do
We will stand tall and fight for all
That freedom can ring true

Though we may be wounded
Let all nations hear
That America the Beautiful
Will never run in fear
