Oh rain so heavenly sent
why must you make my arthritis lament
and my bones ache with
prolonged dissension
of which there is no redemption

Lest light break through clouds
to caress my wounded shell
and warm the stiffness from my joints
so release me from this grip of hell

A time not long past when showers came
and gladness sprung me like a clock
to dance among the drops of rain
and woe was life should they stop

But time is gone and now is here
the dance becomes the rub
of joints and bones and muscles tight
that dull ache is what I fear

I dash across the parking lot
to reach the safety of the awning
bent and twisted from abuse
and smile, knowing I'm not alone
in wishing for pasts returning

Sodden pockets turned out to dry
I stand admonished by the sky
and for all its misery bring
a thought, makes me smile
as I leap a puddle singing

The Morganthau Affair

believe me, sam, i know how it is with rain and the aches and pains of arthritis; i have it, too. and i hate the rain, but know it is necessary! yesterday, here in texas, it SNOWED, and i much prefer snow to rain any day, especially during the winter! i was out in the snow, playing in it after work, and i fell, but i didn't care; i was having too much in the way of fun! :) (tripped over my crutch; was trying to catch snow flakes on my tongue and walk at the same time..kinda' hard to do! :) ) thanks so much for sharing this wonderful write; hope your arthritis pain eases up somewhat! :) love, and ((((HUGS)))), a fellow arthritis sufferer in texas, your friend, karen lynn. :)
