He walks
his pack wearing him down
he should have packed lghter
none of it matters to him anyhow
except the picture
he gazes at their beautiful faces
two of them
a girl and a boy
they are all he has left
and she's trying to take
that too
he walks
paying the price of her decision
a tear rolls onto the picture
he wipes it
slipping it in his breast pocket
close to his heart
where they will always be
no matter what
he can still see their faces
as he walks
It's morning but
he's unrested and tired
he wandered through the night
wishing to lay his head
and put his thoughts to rest
It's enough to make a sane man
let go
his heart aches as
he walks
the only prescense is the shadow
next to him
and a momentary
glance into the eyes
of another wounded heart
passing by
he wonders if their pain
is as great as his
he wonders if they
have two reasons
to walk on.

A poem for one that " Walks On"
Some run . . . . .
It's always tragic when children are involved.
I like your style. |
