I Couldn't...

I couldn't help it...I couldn't...
The frail and violent numbness,
Between you and me.
And even if I did touch you once,
Would it leave marks?
Not just…not quite.
There's not enough of me left.
The finger trails and thumbprints,
As if I wasn’t there at all.

But I didn’t understand…I couldn’t…
Not without you.
Don't you see?
But how can that be?
The massiveness, the gravity…
In something so tiny,
A tear.
The silence and frustration,
Falling from cheek to cheek.

Please…take this from me.
A parting gift…a soft goodbye kiss
But you wouldn't...you couldn't..
A crime committed, the punishment imprinted.
I thought I knew what I was doing…
I thought...
But I didn't.

Dear Mariah... Your talent runs as deep or even deeper than that of your mom...Susan. This is splendid writing and the soul is clear for all to see even tho you "Couldn't"

I have not heard from your mom in a very long time...I pray all is well... with much hope and blessings.
