A prayer for the sporting angler

Dear Lord, please bless the fisherman
Who walks with pole in hand
Hoping that his daily regimen
Will bring a catch to land
Please be sure his aim is steady
As you guide his hopes from shore
And be certain he is ready
Should there be a fight in store.

Please provide him with the tackle
That will aid him in his quest
For the fish he yearns to shackle
Long before his time to rest
Fill his day with perfect weather
Sunlit skies that brightly gleam
As he prays his hook will tether
With the answer to his dream.

Dear Lord, please bless the fisherman
Who awakens at first light
Hoping that his daily regimen
Will allow a fish to bite
Fill his heart with your assurance
Should the hour become late
By rewarding his endurance
With a catch upon his plate.

I grew up with men that fished and I think they always prayed this is wonderful.

There ain't no fish story in this fine write, Jill; you've hooked a whopper for sure! Very well done!

Reads like a catch is really needed to survive. As a fisherman, I yearn for that legendary lunker to find my hook. And stories to tell my grandkids of the day I lost old mossback.

...and I really have those stories... should write them.
