A poem about being happy with just the amount of earthen time I'm given, knowing that eternal life in Heaven is a blessing still to come.
I don’t want to live forever
Just as long as what is right
My ties to the earth will sever
When I’ve no strength left to fight
Yet, until that day, I’ll journey
Through the happiness and strife
Since each moment is a tourney
In this game that I call life.
Every second brings a challenge
Each hour, a memory
That leaves me to find the balance
Between grief and harmony
But, I’ll take these times as given
And I will never complain
For my heart is just as driven
In times of sunlight or rain.
Still, I know I will be weary
After years of battle scars
My eyesight will become bleary
And I’ll long for days afar
When that time arrives, I’ll slumber
In the shade of Heaven’s light
‘til the Lord calls out my number
For my final earthen flight.

|Bravo. I really liked this poem. Reminds me to hold true to the days we are here because soon months will only be weeks, weeks will be our last days, then and only then that day will be the perfect day to go on home.
Thanks for sharing! Keep writing and sharing the truth.
