This poem was inspired by an article I read, regarding how the best and most successful relationships often linger when love forms from pre-existing friendships.

Please catch me; I’m falling like a shooting star
I’m tumbling, so swiftly; I don’t know how far
I’ve come from the Heavens and now, view the earth
So wild and so wondrous, for all of its worth
My heart is on fire; so, quite promptly I glide
A passenger, seemingly here for the ride
I have no control, as I plunge toward the sea
But, I hold much faith in the powers that be.

My heart is not taking this journey, alone
‘tis joined by my courage, my mind and my bone
The origin of my, now steady, decline
I’m sure was a part of God’s pre-planned design
As I quickly spiral, I keep hope in sight
The future may prove to be unique and bright
Especially, if my objective stays clear
To be in high spirits and never have fear.

Please catch me; I’m falling, like a shooting star
I’m tumbling, so swiftly; I don’t know how far
I’ve come from the Heavens to be by your side
In a lasting romance which can’t be denied
Each second I’m closer to the placid sea
Nearer to a bond meant for eternity
You are a dear friend; the kind, priceless and true
And, I cannot help falling in love with you.

Yep, you are onto something there, Jill. I believe all the best partnerships/marriages start as friendships...and for the good ones, the friendship never ends. :)

This is beautiful Jill as I married the guy I was best friends with since I was thirteen years old and that was thirty four years ago and our love just continues to grow. Thank you.

Yes this poem does express a quiet truth...it is so much better to be friends before lovers for friendship is the key to a long relationship...not desire...that is a bonus

My husband and I were best friends first...
It truely is a match made in heaven when we're caught by our star-catchers!
"Please catch me; I’m falling, like a shooting star
I’m tumbling, so swiftly; I don’t know how far
I’ve come from the Heavens to be by your side
In a lasting romance which can’t be denied"

Yes..heaven sent...
Enjoyed this...
