Dedicated to all of us who have lost a loving pet. Aristotle my own is near that time.

 No Greater Love

Companions of our hearts,

companions of our soul

Each loving little creature,

an angel He bestowed

With loving eyes we see your own

We know when you will cry

We see beyond your reach

We know who’s gone awry

But most of all with our heart,

Please do not be so sad

Just know that we do love you

With everything we’ve had

We look at you with knowing eyes

Well beyond our pain

As if to say don’t cry for me

I wish that I could stay

Remember how I chased that ball

That you once threw for me

Remember how I greet you

With love unconditionally

Remember how I nuzzle you

When sadness crossed your heart

And remember how I love you

I never will be far

I’ll be the one to greet you

The day that you’ll join me

With wagging tail or purring heart

Delightful for we’re free

This I write your loving pet

For I was not this to you

I was your family member

Forever one true blue

One Super Special poem that is heartfelt and touching. Cats are very special and we as people we can all learn so much from them. I know that I will miss my Sammy boy when he departs one day. But I know that he will be promoted to a Cat Angel in Heaven and will meet Aristotle. Amen!

May Aristotle live on in your heart, forever. As one who has lost far too many, I know the heartache all too well.

This was written with a heart of light , with a pen of light, on a page of light.

Damn! You made me cry. We lost our two beloved Rottweilers Borgia and Mephisto during the past three years and I still cry for them. But nothing's forever I guess. Good poem - thank you.

Carolee, you have written well this piece from the viewpoint of "mans best friend" and I love dogs and cats as well. However I chose to care for and raise cockatiels although their lives are relatively short...approximately 15 yrs on average. Mine died last Sunday after I had him for 11 years...my mom raised him from an egg 12 yrs prior until she gave him to me as she was too old to care for him any more. I loved that bird and he was well cared for. He whistled the most beautiful songs and always got excited when I would whistle the theme to "Mayberry RFD" (Andy Griffith Show) to him and he loved to talk "unintelligible sqwaking" and I am missing him so much already. The Creator has blessed us all with animals that we must take good care of and they return many years of joy to us. Thank you for this beautiful poem.
