When the whole world topples around you
Say 'yes' to change

 ROCK BOTTOM

When the whole world topples around you,

And you really hit rock bottom,

You'll view your life differently, then

Realise, perhaps it's not as mocking

As you imagined, for others have fallen

To rise again, changed

Better, and not caring

So much about gain and fame

But more about the quality of life

And the people they love,

And know if nothing else, there was

A reason, perhaps from above,

To set them on a different road,

A new life, new thoughts

This is what we call destiny or fate,

Whatever it is, it is never bought

But thrust upon us from no where

That had to be , we know not why

And somehow we learn to cope

With emotions running high

And when at last we have come through

And are settled once more,

We have faced our truth, our destiny,

And are nearer to being whole in all.

I once attended a conference on Coping. I presented a paper on “Beyond Coping.”

Your poem is true. Sometimes it takes a great fall for people to understand who they really are and what they are really doing. I could use some examples from my own family.

Thanks for sharing.
