Lament for the Chippewa

Great Chippewa people

You lived in the forest

You were brother to the wolf

And kin to the bear

This country of ours

Now stands the poorest

Without you Great Chippewa

With no wolves and no bear

If I had the power

Of the Great Spirit in heaven

I would move the White people

Back across the sea

And the Chippewa would live

Once again in the forest

With the wolf and the bear

The way it should be

Mourn for the brother wolf

Mourn for the bear

Mourn for the Great Chippewa

And mourn for yourselves

The green forest has vanished

It inhabitants scattered

Sadly all that’s remains

Is what the white man calls wealth

Sad but true; much has been lost and so little learned. Thank you, Paul. Love and peace to you,

i mourn too----for my spirit so eternally connected to the Chippewa!
Paul, they will return in another time zone to claim their own------
