From a time when I had plenty of it to write lots of poetry

What cruel destiny lay in wait

To forfeit freedom for the gate

For it was freedom that I sought

From pain of love, reflected short

‘Oft time difficult, is the breath

That surrounds seven years of social death

For the love of blood, I know they care

Their shame in me, I must but bear

Heal me Lord from wounds of past

Give me strength that I may last

In healthy flesh, mind and soul

‘Till I’m called no longer,

On their roll

I can only imagine what it is like once a person loses his or her freedom; after accepting the fact, I am sure that creativity could go absolutely nuts. Thoughts become too abundant, along with time. I am glad you've come out of incarceration and have your freedom; also, that you don't mind sharing your stories of those times with us. This writing indicates strong unyielding will, and hope. Those are two things that I am always happy with and even obsessed with. Thank you, David.

David,
Within this poem, I could feel an uplifting of spirit..You my dear friend, have paid your dues..You must forgive yourself and let all pain live in the past..That is where it all belongs..forgiveness of past inequities, loving oneself, and embracing all that you have at this moment...That is all that matters..You must feel the magic of that love and live each moment that you have left with life full of love, peace, and lightness of being..You deserve this and never forget it..

Much peace, love and light

Whether literal or figurative...powerful writing. Often times forgiving ourselves is the difficult thing, isn't it?

David,

A great poem of love lost. Sometimes it takes a long time. Great analogy.

With faith in your heart you will always pull through your darkest days! The healing might take alittle longer when there is alot inside. A knife wound is easier than the pain of love. Seven years of social death would be difficult for anyone! Hope the wounds of the past are healed soon, and you are no longer on their roll!! Very heartfelt write! Take care, and god bless you always! ~Chessly
