How can I ever know you,
Know you like you know me?
What it would be like to feel you,
Deeply inside of me.
Iím at a disadvantage,
As all of my gender are,
Not knowing the intimacy that you know,
Treasured within your nurturing heart.

To be a man is thought to be simple,
We are mechanics in the game of life,
Serving as protectors, providers, and handymen,
We delight in making things right.

We are often accused of not being engaged,
In the lives of children and spouse,
And when the conversation turns to feelings of love,
Itís true ,
We can be somewhat difficult to arouse.

It is erroneous, however, to think,
That we somehow just donít care,
Weíre just not equipped through our cave man heritage,
To speak of love, commitment, or despair.

Continue to try, if you will, to change us,
To make us more as you see yourselves,
But Iím afraid that God made us exactly as we are,
Loyal, hardworking, and slightly out of touch,
And with our emotions on the tool room shelf.

I wouldn't want to change a single thing about any man I've ever known. What makes them unique is what makes them dear. Wonderful poem Frank. I like the style in which it's written.

Cast off those cave men clothes. It's not hard to focus on the needs of any woman, or to understand them if only one listens. If this is the norm, then I thank God for being abnormal. Thought provoking pen.
