Folly of Fools

When will come the time
For freedom,
Tied are we forever
To those of a different mind.
Are my rights still what
Our forefathers gave me?
Why then do I feel
Like I live in another time
Where I am ignorant to
The law of the land?
Whose law
Is the higher power,
And what matters
If you acknowledge no judicial decree?
Do guns really kill
Or is it the villain,
Who misguided souls
Insist on setting free?
Is it the trigger that kills
Or the finger that pulls it?

What valid excuse is there
To remove God from our lives?
Is life itself not His gift?
The misguided thesis that our laws
Do not reflect the will of our forefathers;
Folly,
Fledgling society!
A mere two hundred years;
Toddlers of democracy
With obscene power,
Now with the arrogance
To trump the will of God.
It is an arrogance
Born of ignorance
And you, lost children,
Are fools.

Jefferson and Franklin,
Adams and Hancock,
The luminous list is long
And it is to you and I
That they spoke,
Knowing I am sure
The challenges that this nation
Might face.
Perhaps monsters such as Hitler and Bin Laden
Were not imagined,
How could they be?
But men who know God
As they did
Saw Satan in George III.
Surely the law
That they envisioned for this land
Was a philosophy
For the centuries ahead.

What is gained
When the manger is stolen from Christmas?
Who profits from the removal of prayer?
How is a child harmed
By placing hand over heart
And pledging allegiance to this land
Under God?
Armed insurrection is something
Our forefathers understood,
Even if peace is what they espoused,
But who are we,
One and all,
If in our own time
We deny the Almighty One?

Beautifully and very artisticly stated, let the truth be known our freedoms are growing very thin and what this country was founded upon is being pushed away and shuned at every turn. Makes me wonder what we will be left with when there is nothing left...

Be always safe,
Karen

Right on the button with this one, Frank. It's like building your dream house, and then deciding your dissatisfied with the foundation, so you just yank it out and let it rest on the bare ground instead... how stupid would that be? I ask you... I love that Benjamin FRANKlyn cried when he signed the Declaration of Independence... love it. They felt it-- that they were doing something great for generations to come-- They contemplated what they'd have to suffer to make it stick, but were resolved to do it anyways. I'm proud to be a decendent of Patrick Henry. His words live in my blood... "Give me Liberty, or give me Death!".

An important write, Frank. Take care. --Charlie
