My Lord

Become a Fan

The day began
With an overwhelming sense of You
My God
My inspiration
My Brother
My hope.
I am a weak man
Who even when consumed
With the potency of Your Spirit
Will consciously decide
To write poetry of
Sunrises and sunsets
Birds upon the wing
Anger
Sadness
Or the sacrifices of young patriots
But I feel Your companionship this day,
Lord,
And I have long accepted Your consummate importance in my life
Although I have been soundless
Except when asked
But today, I am not diverted
For You are the reason for my life
Days begin with prayers to You
Just as they end
And in between I strive to be like You
Loving and forgiving
Gentle and patient
Generous and kind
Honest
And longsuffering
But failure is my companion too
And I will fail tomorrow
Even loving You always
And with a prayer on my lips
That I will die trying
To fulfill the measure of my creation.

Wowsie! It appears that suddenly you have a fan club... hee, hee... I have to echo Charlie's words though... I love the way you write. It is always a treat to read your words...especially in your appreciation and reverence to the Lord. I do have to somewhat disagree with you however...I think that you beautifully exemplify so many of the traits that you mention within this poem. It may be that you fail at some of them now and then...but the way you express your inner thoughts tells me that you are succeeding more than you fail. Kudos, my friend... Cryssa

That I will die trying to fulfill the measure of my creation. The whole poem/prayer is wonderfully expressive of devotion and earnestness, but those last lines...wowed me the most. Amen to that. Be well, Kathy
