When I was a child

      I fell, I cried

My great-grandmother died

      So, I cried

When I went to school

      certain kids picked on me

I went home and cried.

My mother said to toughen up

      I tried. I succeeded.

Over the years I built a wall,

a tower to protect my heart

so, that I would and could never be hurt again

How young and naïve of me

      to believe

that I could ever achieve such a thing

It’s been almost four years in the making

And I can feel the tears well

And no longer do I see that wall

I tried.

And even now, I cried.

There are many things that can make a grown man cry, and in my humble opinion it is a sign of strength to be unashamed to cry when emotions are dictated from the heart. I enjoy your work very much Aqil, keep them coming!

Best regards,
David

So glad you can still cry and release the pain so you don't have to carry it with you.

Wonderful words Aquil, heart-felt.
I looked at your bio, and you have listed a wonderful handful of poems to memorize. Be safe and be well, and stay strong.
Blessings,
Christine
