"I've a Whale of a Tale to tell you Lads,
A Whale of a Tale or Two,
'bout the girls I've loved,
and the fish I've caught,
on nights like this,
with the moon above,
a Whale of a Tale,
and it's all true ,
I swear by my Tattoo!
There was Mermaid Minnie,
met her down in MADAGASCAR,
she would kiss me,
anytime I would ask her...
then one evening,
her flame of love went out!
well blow me down,
and pick me up,
she swapped me for a Trout!"
REPEAT CHORUS...
Part of the lyrics of the song sung by KIRK DOUGLAS in the movie - 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
ANY OLE COOTS OUT THERE REMEMBER THIS?
ROMANCE...

DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN
Copyright: 10/14/07 - Tom Hyland
I saw Her again last Night.
Still Petite, still Blonde, still Bright.
It was a Wedding Reception,
So Beautiful, so Lovely, so Right.
Meade was the Groom,
Connie was the Bride,
Posing for Pictures,
They stood Side by Side.
The Decorations were well Chosen,
T’was a Tropical Motif,
Their marriage was at St. Lucia’s
Along an Island Reef.
Although I had met her four years Ago,
Same Place, same Time; but an Octoberfest,
Her Charm, her Smile, her Laugh,
Were truly Heaven Blest.
Her cute little cap stayed in my Mind,
Along with little Zoie’s Dance,
And when I reminded her last Night,
It was not just Perchance.
She seemed quite Enamored
That I remembered such Detail,
Could an Ugly Duckling have a Chance,
With such a Pretty Quail?
The Family traits of Beautiful Blondes
Was certainly not Missed,
By the Eye of the Beholder, Me,
I was Dying to be Kissed.
We spoke of her career in Cosmetics,
Doing Make-Ups, and Such,
Some Famous Persons had she Done,
I Longed to feel her Gentle Touch.
But, ALAS - I am but a Beggar,
Succumbing to her Charms,
T’was just a silly Dream…
To hold Susan in my Arms!
The Upper Crust of Society,
T’was obvious they all did Well,
And I, a humble Servant, could only Be,
A lowly Ne’er-Do-Well.
To Sleep, perchance to Dream,
Those the Bard’s words, echoed in my Ear,
How many Years may pass Again,
Until her Voice I Hear?
The Fare was just Scrumptious,
Roast Loin of Pork, Baked Chicken Breast, Breaded Shrimp,
T’was Nothing Spared, for this Affair,
Not a Sou, did they Scrimp!
The Beer was Cold, and like Knights of Old,
We gathered round to Protect the Kegs,
Heinekin and Yeungling, it flowed throughout the Night,
Did I mention how Lovely are her Legs?
Desperately Seeking Susan,
In 1985, Madonna played the Role,
A Screwball Comedy Grossed Millions,
And Touched each person’s Soul.
Way down South in Laytonsville,
On Holland Farms Road,
T’was where we Celebrated,
A Magnificent Home to Behold.
She asked if I could do some Writing,
Redo her Resume? I Might!
Gave her my Business Card,
With Email and Website.
She said she’d take a Peek,
See what I had Written,
Now I wait with Baited Breath,
‘Cause now I’m Twice Smitten!
Will She, or won’t She?
Can She take a Chance?
Or will this Poem Be,
The End of my Romance?
Will I be Successful by Winnin’?
Or a Failure by Losin’?
I Dun’no, but I must go On,
Desperately Seeking Susan!
Connie & Meade
CONGRATULATIONS…AGAIN!
LOVE…TOM…

Thanks Tom. You just reminded me that I need to get a new lawnmower for next spring. I think I'll go electric (less pollution). Love and peace,

Twice Smitten - a very serious thing! And I remember Kirk Douglas in that movie all right. I might have to watch that again! And that is a very nice tattoo! |
