A WITLESS DIMWIT WITNESS IS WORTHLESS!
SO SAYETH THE SOOTHSAYERS!
|
WIT
© - Tom Hyland - 4/9/11
Apt, Clever, often Humorous Association
Of words or ideas = Wit.
A person who is Unintelligent or Slow -
Ergo, just the Opposite = Dimwit.
A person who creates a Clever
Remark, Story, or Ditty -
We then refer To -
As being - Witty!
By merely adding an ‘h’ at the end = With -
A Preposition, with about Eighteen Definitions -
Basically - showing Accompaniment.
Ex. - A Dimwit With Wit = Oxymoron, or Paradox!
Adding either Prefixes, or Suffixes,
Several other words can be Formed from the Root -
Such as: Forthwith - Withal - Wherewithal -
Wither - Within - Without - Withstand ...
Witless, as in - Dimwit -
Witness - as in - Somebody who Saw or Heard Something -
“Can I Get A Witness?”
Witticism - a Witty or Clever Remark ...
Somebody who Aspires to be Witty = Witling.
This is a Literary Insult!
Transposing the ‘h’ we get - Whit -
The Smallest Imaginable Degree or Amount.
As in - “I don’t give a Whit -
How Witty a Dimwit Aspires to Be -
If She/He Lacks the Wherewithal -
To Withstand a Writhing Critical Witticism!”

Tom,
Very interesting play on words. You are indeed very 'witty'.

| Wow, now I'm wondering if I've ever whitlessly witnessed any dimwits whittling whilst withstanding writhing witticisms?! |

| If it helps, my boss is always calling me nitwit but then he's probably more into the entomological aspect of my witlack as opposed to the luminary element. Patrick |
