                Have you ever heard

A happy pig?

I remember it so well.

We would load

The slop bucket

into the back of the old truck.

An old milk can

Full of the scraps

From the days meals

And the foam skimmed

From the milk before it was separated

And bottled.

You would not think it

Smelled very tasty

But let me tell you

Before we were half way

Up the hill

To the pig pen

You could hear those pigs

Squeal and oink

In excited anticipation of their

evening meal.

Little did they know that those scraps

Would one day end up back on the

Dining room table for people

Waiting with excited anticipation

For their evening meal

Of roast pork and brown potatoes.
