Feeling a little lonely last night. This poem came up.

A HUG

I need a hug

It’s been so long

And not just a side-by-side hug

Like they do in church

But a hug

Where we’re welded together

Or perhaps flow into each other

And become one

Like two pigments melded

Into a single color.

I was taught

That hugs were bad

Only little kids hugged

Or maybe mommies and daddies

But big boys don’t hug;

It’s unmanly

Unless they want something

From someone.

I don’t want anything

I just want you.

I got over that

And found someone to hug

Someone who loved me

For what I am,

Not what I was supposed

To be.

That was a long time ago.

The bad times came

The sad times.

I guess everything ends.

But I am so lonesome,

So empty.

No special someones;

I’m told what I want

I just can’t have.

People like me

Have no choice

Or so they say,

You must learn to accept

Things the way they are.

I still need a hug.

I don't think anyone should or "needs" to "accept." I think you make very valid points with your verses here, Chip. I can relate to what you share. I am fortunate that someone found me almost a year ago now. Love, blessings, and best wishes to you,

Nicely penned, Chip. Hope writing it offered you a small amount of relief. Keep at it.

Eventually, when you are feeling up to it, go to BINGO. There are a lot of people our age at BINGO. (generally far more women than men) I guarantee you, if you are friendly and outgoing, you’ll soon find yourself in a conversation with someone who’s is familiar with everything you are going through.

Bingo people are creatures of habit. They tend to go to the same BINGO halls and sit in the same seats, so break that mold. Go to several different games and don’t sit in the same seat,,,,, (unless you have taken a liking to your immediate surroundings…. If you know what I mean)

My Sweetie and I met on Match dot com. We both had lost our spouse to cancer, which gave us some common ground to get started, but we've been together for nearly 4 years now and we've discovered lots more common ground.

Even if it's just a new friend to have an occasional meal with or go to a movie with, it's so much better than doing those things alone.... and trust me, she's out there waiting to hear from you..... when you are ready for that. For now, keep writing. Dick

Here's an electronic hug. Kinda lightweight but maybe you can still feel it. Some things you must accept. But not your situation. Patrick
