I Sea You

I Sea You

When the tides rise and fall-

And you stand before the mirror

Wiping away a tear

And cursing the mess you find

Before the show must go on-

Please- remember my promise;

There is always one man

Standing on the shore

Of the vast ocean of you,

Letting the waves come-

The cold salty gift bearing waves

Which envelope me with wonder

As I handle each gift in turn

With the reverence you would wish for.

And I never forget-

I was not living

Until I submerged myself

And baptized my heart

In the sea of love-

Which is you.

Ah, John, you old devil you (old? naw, just an expression).

To write such fervent and tender verses takes a special kind of a heart, and anyone who reads these verses understands that. Especially, that special one, especially her.
