That's Why

That’s Why

We took the magic carpet ride

To where few people go-

And everything we used to hide

We wanted folks to know.

We skipped the clouds, walked hand in hand

Across the perfect sky

And finally came to understand

To live instead of die,

That’s why.

So now when clouds turn dark and cold,

To offer age and rust,

And mock a dream we couldn’t hold

And call our loving “Dust.”

I go someplace I have to be

And never say “Goodbye.”

It’s more than just a memory-

To love is how to fly.

That’s why.

The angels say what should be done,

We listen now and then.

And even say we could be one,

Just learn to love again.

The miracles that came our way

Like some divine reply

Became a place where I will stay

A dreamer such as I…

That’s why.
