2012 Airborne Prophesy ebook
by Nina Anderson

A conspiracy story that is fiction based on fact and gives us an idea of what is to come in 2012. Lots of flying (the heroine is a pilot) and romance...

Shock and Sorrow

I wrote this a couple of nights ago and didn't intend to share it but I thought maybe it would be good to share my thoughts. I wonder how many like me are shocked what this kind of show reveals about humanity.

Shock & Sorrow

Tonight I sat,
cross-legged upon the couch,
my notebook in my hands,
awaiting a whisper from my muse.
The TV on but just loud enough
to break the silence.

A strident voice
broke through my dreamy reverie
and I grimaced to see
a chanting throng of Jerry Springer fans.
My attention captured,
my forehead creased in a frown.
and I watched,
feeling the bile rise in my throat
as I looked upon the obese form
of a young girl, stripped naked,
hurling abuse at her blowsy mom.
A shocking confession -
"I'm a whore and my lover is my pimp!"
Defiant, she screamed obscenity
and spat hatred,
while her mother hung her head.

The audience jeered,
depraved and wild.
Some laughed and others cheered.
One man grunted like a pig.

They saw an object of ridicule.
something to make a mockery of
All I could see through my tears
was a young girl, only a child
crying out for love.

Yes...the world is sick to the core...but it was prophesied
that this would come about:
"...men will become lovers of themselves...lovers of money...having no natural affection," etc. The evil abounds, and that is why it hurts tender, loving hearts such as yours. One day, though (it is also prophesied)...these things will come to an abrupt halt...by the hand of God...not man.
Then beautiful people like you will enjoy every aspect of that
New System, with no heartbreak or tears.

and they wonder why everything is going to hell in a handbasket--people allow themselves to be degraded and make money off of it...on national t.v., or else just don't care anymore. it's cool to tease the obese, the disabled, those less fortunate than us...how sad. that's why i don't watch talk shows.

An excellent observation on the decline of humanity. As I read, my heart was breaking. I'm still feeling that pain in my chest. I can't watch trash like that.

Chanti, every now and then, usually when I'm in a hotel room, I catch the Springer show. It is shocking to me the level of degradation that occurs on that show. I compare it to ancient Roman times when the Gladiators would be in the arena fighting wild beasts - some of which were humans.

Seems like since the dawn of time, people have enjoyed watching others be shamed. Maybe it makes them feel better about themselves. Maybe they lie to themselves and say "that's not me, I'd never do that." Not realizing that the audience is part of the problem, by giving attention to innocent young people, who as you noted, are starved for attention. Okay, I'll stop now.

I almost forgot to say - Great poem. ~ Sara

Chanti, I have watched that show many times and have always felt it was totally “Trash!” I wonder though why you put the disclaimer on top, after all isn’t that what writing poetry or writing anything is all bout? Being able to verbally express your own thoughts, feelings and sharing them with the world? I believe Master Poet Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU says it the best! “Vandals!” His extraordinary vision and ideals always enlightens those willing to travel outside the box!

However, I also believe that television has brought to life many good things to our spinning world along with the sometimes trash, and the not so wonderful side of mankind’s ignorance and hatred towards each other. So has radio, yet without these forms of communication, how could one tell the difference between good and bad?

It always saddens me whenever anyone uses someone else to further their own hidden agenda. Oh well, life moves forward, and the sun shall rise again tomorrow, and one must be able to go with the flow, or be drowned in the wake of evil forces, which continues to pull on us each and every day.

Your unique gift, talent and poetry as usual, allow one to think, which is always a good thing. Hopefully OUR Den and fellow Authors/Poets will allow ourselves to support and enjoy each other’s work, and make whatever comments we feel necessary without being accused of backslapping or seeking brownie points. I enjoyed the read, my friend. Thank you for sharing your work. Take care and be well.

That is what the VANDALS call "Freedom". That is how they earn their living, and they will get richer, until people - the audience - allows them.

Thank You for Your VOICE to Justice.

Healthy Blissful Day!

Thanks to all those who've taken the time to respond to this poem. I don't watch this show and never will again because I agree it is gross exploitation of human beings. Whether the people who take part are playing out their real lives or acting is immaterial, it is immoral and demeaning. I cannot write any human being off as trash and not worthy of love but I can join your voices in sharing my disgust at the exploitation through sensationalism that this show promotes. I still feel sick when I think about it. The image of that clown-like young girl with too much smudgled make up all over her face, naked and screaming is something I wish I could erase from my mind. How would someone like that be if she had been brought up in a loving family and given some form of self respect?
Thanks again for your feedback.

Shows like this really shine some clarity on the word dysfunctional in "dysfunctional family" don't they? In some ways, I believe that there are those people who just shouldn't breed. They spread their sickness on to generation after generation. Great write, Chanti and you are so correct in your observations.
Take care,
Sherry

You wrote what you thought and felt...if not, why bother to write at all? Our world has enough turmoil without having to watch a show like that...with nothing ever resolved, except a few token words from a man that obviously doesn't care much, one way or the other. A very good poem, I thought. Thank you.

I wonder if any of the Jerry Springer show is ACTUALLY real, I mean they only seem to get people of the trailer trash variety, from the deep south of the US with that accent so you know they are supposedly dumb backwoods folks...I mean come on, that must be staged, they all must be good actors that have yet to be discovered and paid for what they do on that show...there is no way all that that shows portrays really happens...? Amen sister!!! You see it the way I see it. Anyone who would go on television to demean themselves in that way is only a little girl who wants attention...I think it's even sicker that someone of Jerry Springer's intellect can't find a better way to express his talents. Wasn't he the former mayor of Cincinnatti Ohio? That's a big city...How pitiful that someone who had no doubt seen heartache and poverty in his home city as a public servant could willingly exploit others who weren't as privileged as he for the sheer love of ratings and the money they bring. Good write Chanti...as always, excellent! Blessings, Michelle
