I see the War in your Eyes
by ~ Chanti

Thursday, August 09, 2007
Not rated by the Author.

A political statement about the horrors of children in war in Africa.

The painting is my own.

Little child
I see the war in your eyes
Those gruesome images
you try so hard to forget
but cannot
Your family murdered
and a gun placed in your hands
to fight a war you cannot
understand

Little child
I see innocence lost
Your eyes became like
empty tombstones
Your face, a mask.
You've seen death many times
Countless bloated bodies
covered with flies
You pulled the trigger
and screamed
but each time
you died inside

Little child
I see the war in your eyes
and I weep for the child you were,
the child you could have been...

Succinctly expressed with good flow. I think you capture the death of innocence very well.

This is excellent. Excellent! And omg, your painting is outstanding! You really should be painting professionally. Wait... I just mean that the quality of your work is SO darn good - you could be making a living painting. Wow! (Sheesh, I wish I could paint like that.) You continue to amaze me, my friend.

Dear Chanti,
Edwin mentioned that you are going in for eye surgery tomorrow and just wanted you to know you will be in my every thought and prayer. I pray you will have a successful surgery and a very speedy recovery.

Please stay calm, as with God waatching and guiding you, you will be just fine and your sight will be restored. Have faith and know there are many praying for you....

Be safe always and may "God Bless"

I don't know which is better, the poem or the painting. Both are moving and artistic.

This is so sad, that children in war torn countries cannot have the innocence of childhood. Why can't people in the world just get along?

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and all the children of the world, especially those in war torn countries. May the Lord Jesus be with you always, and at your side constantly. A vivid and emotional write of a stark reality, where innosense is lost to the ravages of poverty, war, death, and carnage. Sadder yet, is the fact that those affected are doomed to repeat their history, for it is all they know. There is no "quick-fix" or any solutions on the near horizon for Africa nor the Middle East.

Your painting is a perfect companion piece, and you Snuggles, are the perfect companion :) I'm a lucky guy !!!

Today we have not so many wells, we will never have, but abuse to children will go on until HIS patience runs to empty.

How much talent have you developed. I asked my MP what is being done, regards Africa. England is leading the way, yet whilst that happens peoples of Africa lose theirs...
It may take time due to the complexity of the warlords, yet we in the free world must never give up on Africa...

Such an emotional write, one that allows the reader to visualize life through the eyes of a child who has been stripped and robbed of their youth...a time that was meant for innocence and play war...not the gruesome antics of real life war! A powerful write and stunning portrait! Very talented my friend!

The painting is beautiful as art and horrible with the truth of our world. The poem captures a place no child should have to live in; but they do.
