Lost in the Stillness
A chilling silence consumes the darkness of night,
while unwanted thoughts race within one’s mind,
flashing, prancing, dashing with infinity’s might,
all alone we’re lost in the lonely corridors of time.
Suddenly, partial images from nowhere appear,
within our mind’s eye they seem hauntingly real,
much larger than life they appear to be ever near,
the sounds of yesterday we sadly still fail to hear.
Such mixing of thoughts creates such confusion,
as we struggle to understand events of the past,
colors seem to blend in focus with our illusions,
without any answers they arrive but never to last.
Without a sound in the land of endless dreams,
in our bed not knowing if were asleep or awake,
we hear the noise and all the forgotten screams,
the air forever still yet the ground seems to shake.
Searching reality to find contentment and hope,
our own dreams haunt us every step of the way,
the enigma of our lifestyle seems to help us cope,
as we awake in the morning to face another day.
