Perpetually Fleeing
Bottled up in our wants and desires,
mesmerizing anxieties deep within,
emotions flare with a burning fire,
lost in a place where we can not win.
Our Inner thoughts confuse our mind,
trying to guide us down an earthly path,
finding ourselves victims of passing time,
we slowly become engulfed by aging wrath.
Each moment the clock continues to tick,
constantly trying to ignore it, lost in play,
all the while being beat by nature’s stick,
from aging we are never allowed to stray.
Captured by visions residing in illusions,
our focus dominated by our own fantasies,
we become lost in meaningless confusion,
our lives a mere reflection of our travesties,
Now today will turn to yet another tomorrow,
while we search for substance and meaning,
precious time we use really is only borrowed,
it’s essence has always been perpetually fleeing.
