The enemy within
is back again
threatening
to shut us down,
no warm hug
no tender kiss
just a familiar friend
can be found.
You prowl around
and hide away
waiting
for your chance to pounce,
air gets tight
I put up no fight
you have control
over every ounce.
The truth be known
its a familiar voice
on the phone
calling my name again,
I am killing me
to comfort you
my oldest friend
the enemy within.
