I was traveling around
All over town
looking for Santa Claus,
to give him my childrens christmas list
and finish the last hurrahs.

I searched every honky tonk and grocery store
I even looked on the bad side of town
but I couldn't find old Santa Claus
he was just not anywhere around.

When the light turned red
I was turning my head
I didn't see the man in the bus
until I heard the squeal of breaks
and my fender going crunch.

All over the street packages flew
from the windows of the volkswagon bus
all wrapped in christmas paper
and tied up with bows and stuff.

People dodging, cars a flying,
trying to get on with there day,
nobody but me, saw the man in the red suit
dart and run away.

I could tell from the beard, red suit and boots
that this man was Santa Claus
like a light bulb it hit me,
and I knew I had to pause.

I started putting pieces together
like a puzzle in my mind
it was right there in front of me
plain as day all the time.

Santa Claus is married
to the old woman in the shoe
you know the one,
who had so many children
she didn't know what to do.

She married a man who knew how to fly
keep children laughing
with a twinkle in his eye,

with a ho, ho, ho,
and a big red suit
and a big red bag always full of loot.

Reality hit when my eyes did see
a volkswagon bus stuck, in front of me.
Crammed full of presents and Christmas cheer
and I think I could see one or two riendeer
stuck here in traffic right in my way
where on earth is rudalph to save the day.

This was the day I found out
Santa Claus is married to the old woman in the shoe
the perfect man all dressed in red
plays with toys and snores in bed
it was at this time I knew,
Santa Clause is really,
Mr. Old woman in the shoe.

I was augh struck and dumb founded
I couldn't think of what to do
how could I give old Santa Claus
my childrens list,
now that I knew.

My heart went out to Santa
and I knew right then what I would do,
I would buy every present on my childrens list
and donate to the needy quite a few.

For if Santa can be so generous
I think I can spare a dime
to make a child or two happy,
after all
its Christmas time.

Interesting twist on the real identity of Santa Claus and a moral to go with it; thank you, Karen. I have posted my own most recent info on Santa via my latest limericks here at AD yesterday. You might get a smile or two out of them. Love and best wishes,
