I wrote this piece many years ago about a turbulent relationship.

I placed my hands
Beneath your coat
And placed my heart in a fold,
Hidden there for future use
In hopes of turning gold.

I tread on troubled waters
And diligently I walk,
Breaking down the pillars,
The chains, the binds and the locks.

But the chill within
Could freeze my soul
And crush my precious jewel,
Still I press on
And forage the storm
Like a battered love starved fool.

Billowing winds
And sand storms
Mark my colored path,
Bringing grains of feathered hope
The end of a journey or wrath.

I will be steadfast and mighty
A warrior true of heart,
Bringing forth your deepest hope
Truly, never to part.

As the walls begin to crumble
And storms calm to a still,
The light in your eyes shines brightly
And shows me how you feel.

Bedded still beneath the folds
My heart no longer cold,
I can safely view her grandeur

Sparkling brilliant gold.
