This is written in the knowledge that my expartner is now dying of cancer, and I am confused.
Another Old Soldier dies;
is there anyone there, is there a brass band?
He dies quietly in pain and paupersim;
He dies in confusion and fear.
I have walked this path so many times;
But not with someone I loved
I cannot rescue him this time;
I can only let him die with dignity.

|Your final line, Monsignor, says what has to be said and what has to be done. If there is no way back, then may the passing be gentle and kind.
