Clearing the cobwebs,
breathing the dust,
I climb the ladder
to my mind’s eye
or is it that I descend?
A thick fog dissipates
as I reach the pinnacle
of my being.
There is silence here
yet words stream
past me so quickly
that I must close my eyes
and focus
or I will become dizzy.
Getting lost here
would be easy
yet I am aware
that I must
bring something back.
I see myself sitting
by a quiet lake
and I wonder
if my jouney is over
or if it has just begun.
I can’t help but ponder
what do the waters dream?
Before I realize it,
the sun begins to set.
I light a candle
and begin to write.

This one is special for it does often seem when we are composing that time has no meaning...we just lose ourselves in the jungle of words, lines and rhyme.

Quills and candles, nothing more poetic that that and a poet asking himself, "and now what?" as he starts to write guided by his Muse's hand.

Such a gift you give Joseph. Of all your words I've read throughout the years these touch me deeper than most. I too have become reflective where I once was not.

"I wonder
if my journey is over
or if it has just begun.' This is very deep reflection. I will have this on my mind all day, because I have reached a turning point in my life. Maybe it's because I am a parent in my forties of being an author, who know, but it is all good. I have become more in tune and reflective, thank you.
