Through the pouncing shadows
Moonlight’s full peering
Past the glaring oaks
My way I must find
Every bush a hidden terror
My breath is shallow and quick
A howl in the distance
Sends my heart racing
It beats so loud I know it can hear me
I begin to pray to myself
Oh God please get me home
Each step I take echoes
Or is he closing on me now
AN AXE ABOVE MY HEAD!
No wait it’s just a tree
A scream, I know I heard a scream
Whew it’s just a loon
The fog starts to flow around me
I can not see the ground
I take another step
Then I start to fall
I’m screaming when it grabs me
Crying I cover my face
It pulls me in to crush me
And at once I am awake
My mother’s arms hold me close
She saved me from that place

I must be off skelter. I started smiling at, "AN AXE ABOVE MY HEAD!
No wait it’s just a tree." I could feel the playfulness in this piece. Nice howling write Mr. Daniels.
