The Gift I Give

To know me
This gift I give
only to him
worthy of the giving
Not a casual
making of my acquaintance
or some chance meeting
To know me
Is a gift
that only one
may receive
It is a gift
that is painful to give
For the giving
leaves me vulnerable
and more naked
than the day I was born
To know me
Is a gift
I give fearfully
praying that the receiver
appreciates the value of this
priceless treasure
For knowing
is more than my name
more than my number
more than the style
of my hair or the
clothes that I wear
more than the softness of my skin
Knowing is so, so much more
than the taste of my lips
or the curve of my hips
It is a gift
more precious
than the love we make
and more sacred than
the secrets we tell
each other in the dark
It is a gift
that I give with love
and great trust
For it is a knowing
that comes only
from the showing
of the Soul
within me

Beautifully said, Tanya. The emotions are so genuine and filled with the capacity for loving.
