A poem about ordinary working folk and how unfair life can be at times.

Poor Mabel!

Poor old Mabel,
Sedulous and able,
With bucket,mop and broom,
She cleans every room,
For 30 years she’s toiled,
Never from hard work recoiled,
Never a peep nor complaint,
Always shown noble restraint,
But to the company hard times came,
All knew it would never be the same,
Oh, what now, they all said,
Arms aloft and all in dread,
Someone’s head had to be chopped,
Someone’s job had to be dropped,
And surprise, surprise,
Midst the assurances and lies,
Between her and the lazy CEO
It was poor Mabel that had to go!
