“A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining,

The birds are singing, the squirrels are playing,

And the lawn mower is broken.”

James Dent

The summer solstice is upon us

It’s once again that time of year

It’s time to kick back and relax

It’s time to chug a very cold beer

‘Solstice’ derives from Latin

‘Sol’ being the Latin word for Sun

‘Sistere’ means ‘to cause to stand still’

Sure sounds to me like a day to have fun

But my wife has other plans for me

She wants me doing summer chores

And of course I told her that I would

As she rushed off to work out the door

But I think I’ll just hang out today

And celebrate the arrival of summer

My day will be delightfully refreshing

But I bet tonight will be a real bummer

I’m sure my spouse will curse at me in Spanish

As she usually does when I’ve been a lazy boy

But for the rest of the day I’m going to chill out

And celebrate all this tranquil Summer Solstice joy

Little Darlin, I can’t understand a word you’re sayin

Little Darlin, it seems to me you need to chill out, too

Little Darlin, here comes the sun, here comes the summer

And I say it's all right,

It's all right, Chica,

So Don’t Be So Blue…

Summer, Summer, Summer,

Here It Comes!

You squeezin that puppy dog between logs, Ed... what's gotten into you??!! Seems to me like you're takin Cookie Monster a bit far... have you turned Big and Blue yet? The English summer is turning me Big Bird at the moment, so quite fancy joining you on Sesame Street here... Guess your number will be up when Rebecca finds out your favourite hiding place and watering hole, though... Think you will have more than sunstroke on that sweet hide of yours! Khica Kheeky Kate xx

Oh this has been a grrreat summer, uncharacteristically(gee that doesn't look right)cool-staying in the high seventies, low 80's.
Purrfect! What you need is a robot mower, Ed. Just sit in the chaise, beer in one hand and remote in the other. Deed's done, everyone's happy. Just have to tell the cats to stay clear. Have you ever seen a cat with a bald tail? Not a pretty sight. Enjoy your summer!

It's only the first day of summer, Ed, and I am already counting the days to fall and winter! This Texas heat just doesn't go very well with me; as i get older, the heat bothers me more. Give me cold weather, give me snow, GIVE ME ALASKA!!! WHAAAAAA!!!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)

ADORABLE write and pic; too cute! Thanks for the grins today! :)
