“The just man takes care of his beast,

But the heart of the wicked, is merciless.”

Proverbs 12:10

Her name is ‘Angel’

But her plight is not heavenly

A very wicked human abused her

Then abandoned her, most devilishly

Recently found on the mean city streets

Gravely ill, starving, and at death’s door

She weighs only about twenty four pounds

She should weigh at least sixty pounds, or more

This abused, emaciated, angel is anemic

She has an extremely severe skin infection

She is only one angel, of far too many today

That we seem to ignore, with very little reflection

I now sadly believe that the heart and soul of Modern Man

Must be dying, in a world that now seems to be perishing, too

Luckily, this one furry little angel was taken to a humane place

Where she is now recovering, from we modern humans, so cruel

Please help us to re-awaken this vicious old world

Please report any and all animal abuse that you see

I believe we desperately need a compassion revival

In a world truly meant for all beings, not only humanity

©2008, Mr. Ed

“If you have men who exclude any of God’s creatures,

From the shelter of their compassion and pity,

You have men who will deal likewise,

With their fellow men.”

St. Francis of Assisi

Anyone who abuses an animal ought to have the same thing done to them, sans painkiller. :( Terrible, terrible - shouldn't happen to a dog, cat, horse, bird ... thank you for speaking out for the defenseless, Ed. You are their champion.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(

I am out of words. I see tons of animals abuse but each picture and story always leaves me sad and in shock. Helping animals like Angle is why I live. Being a dog owner I dont know who could possibly do that dogs are like best friends who wont stab you in the back and will always listen to you. Its just another Why? Why would someone do that?

Not good at all. Makes one wonder if these kinda people can tell the difference between killing a spider or a person...
Unless you kill a spider in front of a buddest. He thinks you've killed his uncle from his last life...
Sad indeed...

We have lived to a day that it is becoming more and more common to hear of such horrific crimes! Such a sad time we have lived to see...makes one wonder when God says..."enough is enough...Son go get my children!"

Picture a family where the father is a lawyer, the mother, a teacher with two teenage children. They were my neighbors on Wilmington Island. Very friendlt people that a few were carpooling to school with kids. OIne day, picked up the newspaper and there they were. Animal control went to their home and found an emaciated Doberman, malnourished, inable to walk from being kept in a cage that wasn't tall enough and covered with sores and scads of fleas. can you believe it? Not one neighbor knew they had a dog they kept secluded. Well they were spread all over the news. The husband said he thought the wife (she taught third grade)was feeding the dog and she said he was supposed to be feeding the dog. They were fined heavily and did community service. The teacher kept her job.

Neighbors who live in our lives when nobody really knows the private side. It's a sad world.

Love and blessings!

I have not opened my Peta site for a few days for I see this all the time on their net, there is only so much sadness one can swallow at one time, but I am truly glad that you did, and of the good hearted responses, there is hope as long as we got friends like that, who care, one at a time we will win together. Ed, you're and Angel, thank you and God Bless You! Jasmin Horst

This just breaks one's see animals such as this. Happened in Ft.Wort yesterday: 5 pit bulls that had been left alone, chained in home back yard (chained so closely they could not move around), unfed and unwatered; wound-proofs they had been forced to fight. When picked up by Ft.W. Animal Rescue, they didn't bark or growl...too weak. One dog found starved to death. And their future? Euthanization withing 10 days. Police looking for owner...mean, Godless, unscrupled people these are!!

I know what it feels like to want to kill, when I look at that picture. The bible tells of how man will appear deaf and dumb
in the last days having lost the grace of God. What you say here,
and what I see looks like those last days are near...Thanks Ed

I agree. For years, I would not allow myself to like any animal. My Father had no use for them. I witnessed him killing newborn kittens; tied in a plastic bag filled with water kicking and squirming in the water until they were all dead.Crying made no difference; I was told they were nothing and simply less to feed. Those memories stayed with me for a long time before I allowed myself to get close to animals. Love Holly

Powerful and heartbreaking pen; God be with Angel and those who care for her, nurse her back to health!
