“Keep smilin,’ keep shinin,'
Knowin' you can always count on me, for sure,
That's what friends are for.

For good times and bad times,
I'll be on your side, forever more,
That's what friends are for.”

Dionne Warwick,
That’s What Friends Are For

Every other elephant at this sanctuary
Has another elephant, as their best friend
But Tarra, she prefers the company of Bella
Their truly wondrous friendship, has no end

Little Bella just happens to be a canine
But Tarra the elephant, could care less
Two good friends caring for each other
True and complete friendship at its best

Tarra and Bella, they always dine together
They’ll always play and romp together, too
And when Bella the dog recently became ill
Tarra her elephant friend, sadly had the blues

This unique friendship is a grand lesson
These two creatures harbor no prejudice
Please watch the linked news video below
Mankind can learn from examples such as this

Thank you Ed, isn't it great to know that animals can accept the love and friendship from other animals, they don't see a difference. Thank you for sharing.

Awww, what a wonderful companion they are to each other. Yes, we could all LEARN lessons from nature instead of trying to manipulate it....

We can learn so much from our four-legged friends if we just take the time to observe, practice what they demonstrate so unconditionally! Powerful message in this, Ed; very well penned!
