“Cruelty, like every other vice,

Requires no motive outside of itself;

It only requires - Opportunity.”

George Eliot

Yet another sad Puppy Mill story

Over 150 dogs, had been enslaved

And now, considered to be ‘useless’

They were nearing, the end of their days

They had spent their entire lives – unloved

Confined to a cage – as ‘breeding machines’

Puppy Mills treat their dogs, as ‘merchandise’

Only considered ‘useful,’ if more profit is seen

They would now be so very cruelly put down

They were no longer of any use to their captors

Since no one would be willing to purchase them

Puppy Mill owners, did not want them anymore

Yet, thousands of people this Holiday Season

Will be flocking to pet stores for their new pet

And, the vast sums that they will spend there

Will mean, no end to this immense cruelty yet

Luckily, for these 150 death sentence canine prisoners

The North Shore Animal League, quickly stepped in

And, they rescued these dogs about to be slaughtered

Hopefully, a second chance at life and love, will begin

More pets are bought during the Holidays

Than during all the other times of the year

Please spread the word to Adopt – not Shop

Please give a rescued dog, some Holiday Cheer

And please watch the video, which is linked below

So many canines, are now in need of our compassion

Please help the animal shelters across our entire nation

Make Adopting, Not Shopping – This Holiday’s Fashion

The Only Way To Ever End This Ever Continuing Puppy Mill Cruelty,

Is To Stop Purchasing Dogs – Which Will Cut Off - Their Opportunity.

And Every Animal Shelter Has a Huge ‘Wish List,’ For The Holidays;

Please Contact Your Local Shelter, And Help Them Out, In Some Way.

If I could, I'd adopt a kitty (a Maine Coon, a "Wegie", or a Ragdoll would be nice)! Dogs are nice, but to me they're too much work. Well done, great message in here, Ed!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)

LOVE the song!

What really pisses me off, that the penguin suited clowns our legislators, and our so called moral leadership can't seem to see it, or don't want to, a simple stroke of the pen, would put these ruthless greedy inhumane breeders out of business, too, that the groundswell of indignant voters hasn't yet had their concsience stirred enough, and their feelings rumbled to force the issue to be resolved. American soldiers gave their lives to close down gas chambers in Europe, while millions of these poor creatures are now being gased because they are not wanted, of course they are "ONLY" animals. Newfie is right, in your support in adopting a sweet creature from the shelter. Thanks for writing this Ed, you are a most kind heart, Many Blessings! Jasmin Horst

'The North Shore Animal League'...good thing for their quick step!
My card club...8 girls that have known each other since grade school are donating this year to an all volunteer organization called RPAW...they find foster homes for abandoned animals til they are adopted...they supply all the needs and also vet services...they have been doing it for 5 years and so far found homes for 2,000 cats and 1,000 dogs :)

Heartwrenching to think about these poor helpless creatures that live at the whim of sadistic humans. I would absolutely NEVER purchase a pet!!!! Our animals have ALWAYS come from the SPCA, and we could never have found more loving creatures, all of them. This is a great write, Ed. Should be in newspapers....especially at this time of the year.

This is wonderful Ed as this is how we have gotten all our pets over the past 37 years and I have found they are more loving as though they understand the love they've been given and want to return it.

Adopt, not shop: now THAT'S the way to go! If I only could, I would adopt 'em all. :( Powerful and poignant, Ed, as only you can do. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Shouldn't those graffiti loving spry-cans holders do something useful like painting the town with PET-ADOPT NO-SHOP, what a good slogan!
