Of all the creatures, man is the most detestable.

Of the entire brood, he's the only one that possesses malice.

He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain.

The fact that man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiority;

But the fact that he can do wrong, proves his moral inferiority.

Mark Twain

The animal cruelty stories continue

Each one, now worse than the last

I am now starting, to sadly believe

Compassion, is a thing of the past

This dog was severely beaten with a pipe

Deep, massive wounds about her head

Then, she was wrapped in a newspaper

Tossed into the trash, and left for dead

A garbage man, on his assigned city route

Had grown accustomed to murdered pets

But, when he very sadly found this latest

He heard a whimper; she wasnt dead yet

So, he decided to take her to an animal shelter

Where they very quickly, had to remove her eye

Twenty-two of her broken teeth had to be extracted

This severely battered soul, made everyone there cry

De De - the discarded, one eyed, toothless, Dachshund

Has now been adopted, by one of those who provided care

She sees more and more of this horrendous cruelty, every day

And she sadly knows, there are many more like De De, out there

The animal cruelty stories continue,

Each one, now worse than the last;

Im now starting, to very sadly believe,

Human Compassion, is part of our past.

Animal Cruelty Is Definitely On The Rise

Why I am not surprised anymore? Why I go inside myself more and more? because humanity as been dehumanized, man has become the snake that had already swallowed its tail and will keep on swallowing...

This is heartbreaking, Mr. Ed. I wish I could put my arms around her and run gentle palms on her head to soothe her aching heart. I can only pray and try to find comfort in the knowledge that God never sleeps and allow painful things to happen so that lives are touched and changed. Be well always and blessings to you.

I know I am supposed to be Christlike in my thinking, but when I read of horrendous injustices against helpless and defenseless animals or children, it is extremely difficult. I think the perpetrators ought to be given the same treatment they meted out on their (hapless) victims. No exceptions! Heartbreaking; this should NOT be! Keep on speaking out against such evil; the world needs more compassionate angels like you who DO truly care!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

It's like I keep saying. These people are dirt bags who only do these cowardly things because, 1/ They need to cause some living creature pain. 2/ They can't stand up to a real man. 3/ They know they will most likely get away with it. But the blame lies with the people who make the laws. Whoever done this should receive a sentence of at least 5 years.

It must have choked you to write this piece Ed, but it needs to be shown, so well done. I hope the wee dogs okay. I'll send Mad Sparky out in the next post, he'll sort him.

And as for Lews cat. I'd have taken him out for a ride all right. If he lived over here in Belfast, he would have plastic knee caps, and a steel plate in his nut.

A sad fact informative piece you have woven Ed
And still humans sin against their four legged
Once friends turning them into their seeked
Sadistic morbid pleasure.......
One day they will come before "He" who judges all....
Then He'll decide what punishment fits their Morbid cruelty....
Pearce be with you

I know of this cruelty. We used to have a small black cat. We loved her. our neighbors loved her. She would come and go from home and was free to visit the neighbors. There was one we are told who didn't like cats. He would trap them and carry them miles into the country. We can only imagine that this is what happened to Jasper because one day she didn't come home. We all still miss her.
Your write speaks of heartless deeds. Thanks for writing.
God bless,
Lew

If one person in a thousand is as compassionate & caring of animals as you are then just maybe our humanity will stay stronger...ed
Reviewed by JASMIN HORST SEILER
If there is just one human, just one, that will share compassion with those that are lacking, there might be hope, though the prospects are dimm, as it looks now. Mark Twain said it well enough, in his remarks about humans, for babies grow up to be humans, and their innocence leaves them, but the innocence of creatures remains with them all their lives, I prefer the innocent ones always.
A million times a day this happens Ed, can you imagine, and then someone even dares to critisize PETA, for they migth have inconvienienced some all too important human. I always say, anyone that can mistread an innocent animal, can just as readily mistreat one of us, we need to show them that they are wrong, of course not using methods of theirs, but love, this is one of the hardest things I find, after seeing this, and all the others.
Blessings! Jasmin Horst

When I see this or hear of it Ed my heart breaks into, how can people be so cruel. I look at animals as little children who need to be loved and cared for in every way. Sad so sad.

The person who could do this to an animal should be tortured slowly...until death....I get so angry when I hear of things like this...I agree with you Ed, far too many humans are completely without compassion...there is so much ugliness in the world, sometimes it's nice to escape into a dreamy poem...just to get away for a while.
