“Dogs are our link to paradise.

They don’t know evil, or jealousy, or discontent.

To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon

Is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring,

It was peace.”

Milan Kundera

I woke long before dawn

Feeling restless, and blue

One of my dogs understood

He knew exactly what to do

He rushed off, to fetch his leash

He stood there with it, at the door

He had a knowing look, in his eyes

Soon, I would have the blues no more

I quickly got dressed, and I followed him

He led me to my old truck, parked out back

Soon, he and I were heading off to the woods

He knew just how to ward off my blues attack

Each of my loyal canines has a truly unique personality

Each of them, knows how to cheer me up, in some way

My old Katrina pal, Tater, loves riding anywhere with me

He knew a trip to the woods, was what I needed yesterday

Several hours later, Tater and I had reached a favorite spot

High on a hillside, overlooking a most serene little blue lake

We sat there together, on a glorious summer’s day afternoon

Basking in nature’s glory, while my blues quickly faded away

I woke long before dawn,

Feeling restless, and blue;

One of my dogs understood,

He knew exactly what to do.

The more time we spend with our dogs the more the ESP between us strengthens, I believe. I wouldn't be surprised if Tater hadn't been summoning you to rise and go with him in your sleep... He had probably a dream of a big bone hidden somewhere up there... did he ask you to dig, as well?! And blimey... what a way... from long before dawn to the afternoon... I do hope you left Rebekkah a note! :)) xx

I love how nature "speaks" to you, Ed! My father was the most in-tune with nature person I've ever known....and he instilled a great love and respect for nature in me.....

I SOOOOOOO want a dog, just some companionship, some love, & someone to talk to & if he or she talks back all the though is quite tight and I am not sure if it would be good for the dog...he would get fed and such, but doctors are expensive as are all the other stuff that dogs need, so for now I have to enjoy your writes about dogs, even though they make me miss Rufuz...e

Your words have done the photo justice. Sometimes that's hard to do. It's your den site photo, if I'm not mistaken and it speaks volumes about your cause.

Thanks Dick
