“In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.
It is then burst into flame, by an encounter with another being.
We should all be thankful for those who rekindle our inner spirit.”
Albert Schweitzer
I was feeling so down and out
When my mother passed away
But now, I really like to believe
That she sent a loving gift my way
I called my Mom ‘Little General’
A tiny woman, but always in charge
She knew how to keep her kids in line
Her body was small, her heart quite large
And my Mom had always loved to tease me
About my fondness for animals, my entire life
When I was about to marry Rebecca she told her
“I hope you know, he loves dogs more than wives!”
And shortly after my mother left this earthly realm
I happened to find a tiny, homeless, pregnant canine
Little Lupita reminds me so much of my own mother
Just like Mom, she knows how to keep her kids in line
She is tiny, stern, loving, and so very protective of her offspring
And, when they don’t listen to her, she knows exactly what to do
I now like to think, that the Little General sent Little Lupita, my way
Knowing in her loving heart, this tiny Mom would help relieve my blues
I was feeling so down and out,
When my mother passed away;
But now, I really like to believe,
That she sent a loving gift my way.
Thank You, Little General,
And, Happy Mother’s Day;
As I gaze upon this tiny Mom,
I will be thinking of you, today.
