Soap Bubbles

We grow up as one
Through our eyes we see the world
With ‘me’ as pole or benchmark

Is this the way it is?
Are we lonely drifting in the sunset breeze?
Like shiny color-coated spheres?

The fragrance of a sudden taste
Permeates a moment’s universe
Please tell me your name

Emotions and thoughts stream through my mind
Like wind blows through a leaky old roof
Not to stay for much longer I guess

Condemned to the smell of ‘whatever is’
Talk of freedom may sound like a bitter man’s joke
As all treasures will disappear soon

May our lives ahead
Be fulfilling and happy
Anchored with love and courage
Or be instructive, at least

Your imagery in adjectives used for this piece is why I love to read the work of others. No way this could come from a "poetry class." I came from your own perceptions of what is, what was, and what can-be.
