Memories of a Crush

©2005, Tyrone V. Banks

I watched you stroll across the room

I pretended that I was too busy to care

as you walk away, I turn and stare…

Where ever you were, that’s where I’d be…

just to catch a chance to inhale your enticing aroma and steal a glance.

if you walked next to me, inches away, I’d pretend that we were a couple

until you turned and walked away

I’d whisper, “I’ll see you later, my love…”

images of you invade my dreams

your eyes

your lips

your hair

your body

your skin

I was angered when awakened from that slumber and I’d close my eyes and try

to get back by your side

images of you live on in my thoughts

I imagined all of the things that I would love to say to you, but was too afraid to…

your laughter I can hear across the room

I’d look your way

just to make sure that there was no other man looking your way

one night I had it so bad

you invaded my dreams and gave me more than I could handle

you looked my way and walked over to me as I pretended to be preoccupied

you touched my shoulder

I flinched…I died…

my heart raced

seconds later we were together in a special place

saying all of those things that we harbored in our hearts as we stood face to face

one passionate kiss after another

you surrendered your body to me and I surrendered mine to you

I pulled you close

I grabbed you gently by your waist and pulled you closer

I looked into your brown eyes

you parted your lips and I kissed you

I released waves of passion into your direction

just so that you knew that I was real

the kiss lasted forever

you had so much more to offer but your kiss

I needed that from you…

I felt that I was leaving this dreamscape

I held onto you as I was pulled away from this self created realm

this emotional hell

with you I’d dwell, to the end of time –

I awakened and then I saw you again

you walked over to me

our eyes met and you smiled.

Not just a normal smile but a mysterious smile

like Mona Lisa…as if you knew all of my thoughts and I stood before you unclothed, unhidden and unashamed – like Adam and Eve before the bite of the fruit…

Could it be?

That you shared that same dream also and spent time with me?
